Professor Shachar's "Citizenship and Globalization" also came to an end. We had a great feast in class, which I would say was the best free food ever since I arrived at Harvard.
Making a summation, Professor Shachar encouraged us to find our path for the future, to contribute ourselves to those in need, and to do something that can make our world a better place. (She may not have used such words but these are the main points she said to us.) She is a crazy passionate professor that I have ever met. No matter what we say, what our opinions are, and how we think, she always shows her highly interests and makes great compliments. Even if you think your idea is "no big deal," after talking to her, you will think that your idea is "a big deal."
Because we are studying ar Harvard Law School, it is pretty easy for us to be labeled as "smart." While I do not think I am a smart person, I have to admit that sometimes, I really want to do something good for people around me, for the society, for Taiwan, and even for the world. Like Michael's song, "Heal the world, make it a better place, for you and for me and the entire human race. There are people dying, if you care enough for the living. Make a better place for you and for me." Most of the time we think that we do not have the ability to benefit others, but actually we already have such ability. We have both hands, both legs, healthy body, and do not worry about living. Isn't that enough for one to do something for others? It doesn't have to be a "big thing." Even a "little tiny" thing can be good. So why bothering we do not have the ability?
I was kind of touched by Professor Shachar, although not as deeply touched as Nkatha. (OK~I admit that I am easily touched by others, but I won't cry..) She also made me believe that I can and should do something to make the world better. No one says it's an easy task, but there has to be someone to take steps. Otherwise, the better world will never take place.
As sex equality, the end of " Citizenship and Globalization" is not an end. There is still a long way to go. Whenever it comes to an end, it initiates another begin. So keep going!!
